Tractor Parade And Trek
Rules

1.
Equipment that is self-propelled and operated on a public road shall be
operated by a person that is licensed by the state in which they reside.
2.
To operate equipment at an MATC advertised tractor parade or trek you
must be a current MATC and EDGE&TA member.
3.
If you are a member age 12 through 17, you must have completed the MATC
SAFETY COURSE and have a Youth Driver Training Certification Card in your

All tractors shall have an emergency kill switch or device in reach of
the driver’s seat.
5.
A certified fire extinguisher should be prominently displayed on each
tractor.
6.
There shall be only one (1) person on a tractor when moving, unless
there are provisions for others and these provisions meet the Safety Officer’s
approval.
7.
It is not acceptable for riders to stand on the drawbar or hitches on
any tractor.
8.
Tractors with cabs may have riders if they are inside the cab and the
doors are closed.
9.
All PTO shafts should be covered if possible, and if not, make sure
they are disengaged.
10.
A minimum distance of 3 times the length of your tractor should be
maintained between your tractor and whatever is in front of you.
11.
When operating a tractor in a parade, always drive parallel to the
spectators.
12.
When operating a tractor in a parade or trek, never throw candy or
other objects from the tractor/wagon/people mover.
13. Towing tractors must have adequate brakes to handle the towed load on any hill that may be encountered. (NOTE: garden tractors are not designed to be towing

Never leave a tractor in gear when parked. (This will prevent someone from accidentally
starting the tractor and running over themselves, others or other equipment).
15.
Never leave an unattended tractor running.
16. All pulled wagons or people movers shall have a washer and hitch cross pin in the bottom end of the pulling pin. A grade 8 bolt with double nuts would also work.
17.
A Safety Triangle will be prominently displayed on the rear of each
tractor during a trek.
18. Draw bar on pulling vehicle must be long enough to provide adequate turning radius so the tongue of people mover/wagon will not ride up on the rear tires of the
pulling vehicle. A safety chain is required and must be short so that in the event that the people mover/wagon becomes unhitched from the tractor, the people
